We recently had an online demonstrator event, which I converted into an in person event which of course meant we need to get inky and I designed three make & takes using items in the new catalogue. The Waves of the Ocean stamp set & dies are currently available as an early purchase, the waves basic rhinestones are only available on the early release not in the next Annual Catalogue and they are beautiful, but I am partial to blue! Does anyone else see this pelican and think of Stormboy or is that just an Australian thing?
I took a Basic White panel 8.7cm x 13 cm and put it into the Stamparatus with the large wave stamp. I stamped the image in Bermuda Bay ink and the didn’t clean it, using a Blend Brush ink up parts of the wave with Night of Navy ink, stamp it onto the wave & repeat 2-3 times until you are happy with the result, I tend to focus on the curl of the wave.
Take the panel out of the Stamparatus – using a different Blend Brush with Pool Party ink softly colour in the wave a bit more. Then I layered it onto a panel of Night of Navy card stock 9.1cm x 13.4cm and onto a Bermuda Bay card base.
I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink on a piece of scrap Pool Party & die cut it with the Wave Dies. Layer the sentiment onto the card front using Dimensionals.
The pelican is coloured using markers & stamping via the Stamparatus (these are awesome as this way you don’t need to colour everything at once and the image alignment is perfect every time). I used the Stampin’ Write markers for the pelican image in neutrals and brights. I started colouring with the lightest colour first, Mango Melody, on it’s beak and feet so as not to contaminate the colours i.e. I work light to dark. The body of the pelican can be done in either Night of Navy or one of the browns, depending upon you’re personal preference. The pylons are coloured using Crumb Cake all over, then a second inking of the posts are with Soft Suede and a little Early Espresso – the cord is with Early Espresso. I wanted no white edge on the image so instead of using the dies, I fussy cut the pelican image, before mounting the pelican and the sentiment on Dimensionals and put onto the card front. I finished the card with a few rhinestones (yes I always do an uneven number of rhinestones – as per Antoni Gaudi).
