Leukaemia meets Lotus Blossom

Worlds-greatest-shave

For the last two years I have been meaning to join in the Shave for a Cure to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation and one thing or another kept getting in my way. Well the time to step up is now and mid March I will have my head shaved. So far some wonder friends have sponsored me online, I made some thank you cards this weekend to show them how much that I appreciate them and their support.

IMG_7892-2

I used the new Lotus Blossom stamp set which is a Sale-a-bration freebie, the Leukaemia Foundation colours which I translated to Tangerine Tango & Pacific Point. To get the embellishment pearls to match the project by colouring them with the darkest of the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities.

IMG_7891-2

The centre lotus blossom was fussy cut and raised up on Dimensionals to add interest and the butterflies were layered and then one wing was raised by a Dimensonal to give the illusion of flying.

Card stock dimensions for the project are: Whisper White 95x89mm, Pacific Point 99x93mm, Tangerine Tango 142x99mm and Whisper White base was 297x105mm scored at 148mm.

If you would like to sponsor me in the Shave for a Cure you can do so online here by clicking the icon below or I am also selling the above cards until the end of March for $4 each with the money being donated to the charity.

There are two options, you can do the set class with everything provided for $20 or BYO projects and pay $5, both options include afternoon tea and access to creche for just $2.50 per child.

I have to say that I love how versatile the Curvy Keepsake die is and am so excited it’s carrying over to the next Occasions Catalogue!

Lotus Blossom stepped up

I made a 60th birthday card recently with one of the new Sale-a-bration stamp sets, it is no doubt going to be one of the favourites of Sale-a-bration, it is a triple stamp and the results are amazing! I was inspired by a card from Christine M. and did one plain version and one version stepped up with silver to make it sparkle. The vellum gives the image a nice muted look.

IMG_7777-2

I’m sad that the frosted sequins are retiring in the current Holiday catalogue as they have been so much fun to use embellishing projects and the container lasts for ages (I’ve down 4 classes, lots of my own Christmas cards and tags with one container and there are still lots left!). The numbers were die cut using a retired die, the sentiment for the birthday card is from another new set in the up coming Occasions Catalogue called Butterfly Basics.

IMG_7776-2

The Fast Fuse adhesive is brilliant as it doesn’t show up underneath the vellum like a lot of adhesives do, there is a trick to using it as can be seen below, but it’s worth persisting with it in my opinion if you like to use vellum!

Two new catalogues are coming…….

20150106_SAB_en-SPJanuary 6th 2015 sees the global release of the new Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration, where you can earn your choice of free products for ordering, hosting and joining my team. If you would like to join us in celebrating the launch of the new catalogues, please join us on Saturday 17th of January for 2 hours of creative fun, as well as being able to see inspiring displays and partake in some yummy sustenance. There are two time slots and the only way to secure a spot at either one is to pay for it – RSVPing is not enough, the cost is just $5 and payment options are PayPal or direct debit or cash.

20150106_Occasions_en-SPDo you love the bouquet on the cover of the Occasions Catalogue? It’s a cool kit so you can make you own – I am planning on doing this up for a family members birthday in February, then the flowers will never die. My personal favourite from the Occasions Catalogue is a stamp set called From the Herd – the main image in the set is below – coming from a farm for me this is a very fun set – although I need to practise colouring the goat!

This was a window card – so this is the inside of it.

IMG_7877-2There is also a very cool new punch – it makes bows! So if you liked the bow die – you will love this, perfect for tags or making mini Santas! I can see me using this one a LOT.

IMG_7768-2

The sentiment is from another new Sale-a-bration stamp set called Simply Wonderful – and free  stamps are always wonderful in my books so yay!

IMG_7829-2I will post more projects I have been making with my pre-order items – got to love being a demonstrator and getting your hands on new toys weeks before anyone else! If you can’t make it along to the Launch Party and would like a catalogue, please contact me and I will get one in the mail to you soon, of course on January 6th I will have the links up to all the new items.

Envelope Punch Board Snowman Soup

IMG_7760 (1)-2

I loved making these snowmen last year from Jackie’s tutorial (a super talented demonstrator that I was fortunate enough to not only meet in person last year, but I got a swap from her!!) last year I made them and put flat chocolates inside them. This year I modified the design slightly to make them accommodate a pack of “snowman soup”.

The measurements for the body of the snowman that I made were to cut a 5cm wide strip from the full length of an A4 sheet i.e. 5cm x 29.7cm. I then scored the sheet at 13.5cm from each end to create a gap of ~2.7cm in the centre that will accommodate the hot chocolate mixture.

For the frilly part of the scarf I folded over the end of the All is Calm washi tape about a centimetre before I cut it to make it more dimensional. The buttons were from the Owl punch and the details added with the thicker Project Life journalling pen. The carrot nose was the small heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents pack cut in half and the base rounded slightly. I apologise I used the small retired flower punch for the centre of the holly, but the small flower from Boho Blossoms would look just as good in the red glimmer paper. The best way I have found for adhering the glimmer paper is with glue dots.

I wrote the sentiment on the computer and printed out and punched with the 1 3/4″ circle punch and layered onto a 2″ circle of pear pizzazz card stock and put it on the back of his hat.

These make great little gifts for colleagues, as place settings or hanging on the tree!

Ninja Turtle Punch Art

I needed some quick Ninja Turtle themed birthday cards today so with no stamping involved, here were my creations.

IMG_7693-2

Simple punch art using 1 3/8″ circle and the large oval punch for the face, with the owl punch for the eyes. The ribbon masks were 1/2″ pieces of card stock and I hand cut the fish tail end. Eye highlights were added with the white gel pen and the mouth and nose with the black Project Life journalling pen. The letters for the names were die cut using a retired alphabet and glued on using the wonderful Tombow glue. The background was embossed using the honeycomb embossing folder. Fun, fast and now it’s time to cowabunga dudes!

Chocolate Santa Christmas tags or ornaments

Every year I say I’ll be more organised for Christmas and then December comes and it just hasn’t happened! However I thought I would share this super cute and quick idea with you, I CASEd it from a lovely creative friend Jill.

This project is as simple as cutting 2″ strips of card stock (I cut mine from A4 card and make them 2″ x 10.5cm so that I get 8 per sheet), punching them with the tag topper punch, stamping them with a sentiment and then adding some frosted sequins and a little chocolate Santa with glue dots. Thread some ribbon through the punched hole and you’re done – perfect for decorating a tree, adding to a special gift or in my case for my cherubs classmates.

IMG_7676-2

I also did a stepped up version, which just layers the 2″ punched tag onto another piece of card stock 2 1/8″ wide and hand cutting the corners off. I also added some faux stitching with the thin journalling pen from Project Life.

IMG_7678-2

I can’t believe I oscillated for ages before committing to the frosted sequins as they are gorgeous and with 450 in a container last for ages – I’ve used them in 3 Crafternoon classes, plus two of my own projects which involve a lot of multiples and I still have lots left!

Christmas Stamp-a-stack

IMG_7653-2

We did a stamp-a-stack recently at Crafternoon Tea – three designs (above) and making each in duplicate to result in 6 cards in the two hours plus a yummy afternoon tea and some fun conversations. Most of the stamps and accessories were from the Holiday Catalogue.

So the first design was using the Festival of Trees set in garden green, chocolate chip and cherry bobbled ink. The stars are punched from the gold foil paper with new confetti star boarder punch and the background is embossed with the new On Point embossing folder.

IMG_7654-2

The next was using the Bright and Beautiful stamp set, with the star framelits and northern flurry embossing folder. The star and sentiment was heat embossed with silver embossing powder and the bow done in the super beautiful 1/8″ silver ribbon, which is really soft and easy to tie into bows.

IMG_7655-2

The final card was made using the Endless Wishes with pool party, bermuda bay and real red ink highlighted with frosted sequins adhered with glue dots.

Have you made your Christmas cards yet? Which is your favourite stamp set for the year? It’s not too late to order supplies to make everything you need, check out the Holiday Catalogue here.
