Gift Box Punch Board

IMG_4962 2-2

The Holiday Catalogue has some great new items, including the new gift box board and the specialty designer paper Under the Tree. It seriously only took me 5 minutes from opening the box for the first time to having made this great 4″x4″x4″ box – the the video below to see how simple it is to use.

I was inspired by Patty Bennett to create this tag using the same specialty paper and the Little Letters thin lets to make the tag for the box.

Perfect Peacock in Silver

I got this beautiful new stamp from the Annual Catalogue, I love colouring this image, but not everyone likes to spend ages colouring a single image. So I used the beautiful outline image in class recently and just heat embossed it with silver embossing powder and added rhinestones to it. Sadly it doesn’t photograph well due to the high level of light reflections, but it does look better in real life.

I must apologise though as I had no idea until I went to write this blog post that the sentiment stamp set I chose to use had retired oops! sorry about that – you could however substitute it for any number of suitable greetings.

Bloom with Hope Blendabilties

Blendabilities Unleashed

So I am totally LOVING the Blendabilities and cannot wait for my next order to arrive with the other 5 colours in it (well actually 6 new colours got released, but I was fortunate and got given one of these new colour sets at our Annual Stampin’ Up! Convention in May so I didn’t have to wait for it!).

What Sets Them Apart:

  • The Stampin’ Up! rectangular barrel keeps your markers from rolling away!
  • Flat storage helps to maintain the life of each marker.
  • Each marker comes with a tip on each end: brush and fine.
  • Marker tips are made of nylon, which is superior to polyester which can fray.
  • Colour-coded caps.
  • Stampin’ Up! markers coordinate wonderfully with the card stock, ribbons and other accessories.

I found another really good You Tube video on the Blendabilties from the Stampin’ Up! UK team – definitely worth a look in my opinion.

Monkey treat bags with punch art tutorial

IMG_7431-2

I recently started making some items for my cherubs school as they put a call out for items for the Father’s Day stall. I always think it’s a shame that they get a lot more handmade items for Mother’s Day, but hardly any for Father’s Day. Anyway I made up these little punch art monkeys and topped treat bags filled with banana lollies. The sentiments were made up on Word and printed on Daffodil Delight card stock.

These treat bags would also be terrific for children’s parties don’t you think?

Amazing Birthday masculine

There are some really versatile new stamp sets in the Annual Catalogue, one that I am loving is Amazing Birthday, here’s a card we made with it in class last week. It’s quite simple in terms of colours and layering, but with the textured embossing, sponging on the outer edges and hand drawn stitching it ends up having a really nice finished effect don’t you think?

IMG_7443-2

The overall finished look of this card changes depending upon which way you layer the textured embossing panel and also if you used rhinestones instead of mini silver brads, but I was going for a masculine look, so no bling or ribbon!

The awesome bonus is that in clear mount this stamp set with 7 stamps in it is only $25.95!! I seriously thought it was a misprint – but it’s not, talk about great value!

Another Pointillism Blended Bloom

When I made yesterdays card using the Pointillism technique I coloured a few of the Blended Bloom flowers with different Belndabilities colour combinations before I made up a finished card. That is one of the things that I love about stamping – experimenting with colour! Any way here is another card made using the Pointillism technique, but in different colours.

IMG_7440-2

The Blendabilities colours that I used for this were all three shades of Daffodil Delight and the medium marker for Pumpkin Pie. I also added the Bronze skin tone marker to the centre of the flower.

Blended Bloom Pointillism

I saw a great tutorial on SCS this week on pointillism, which I hadn’t done since I was about 13 years old in art class when we were learning about Georges Seurat work and impressionism. Fortunately the new Blendabilties lend themselves perfectly to this work and I combined that with CASEing a card made by Jan Tink and this was the result.

IMG_7447-2

I really like the way Jan hand drew the border around the finished card front.  Here’s a visual of the colour build up using the different Blendabilities colours. So using the light marker of the Coastal Cabana, these were the areas of the flower that I coloured.

IMG_7432-2

Using the medium Coastal Cabana marker I added more dots.

IMG_7450-2

Using the darkest Coastal Cabana marker I added yet more colour to the petals.

IMG_7454-2

Then I added the colour to the centre of the flower with the lightest and darkest Daffodil Delight Blendabilies and added depth with the Bronze marker from the skin tone pack.

IMG_7458-2

I love this colouring technique – what techniques have you got on your to try list?
