Graceful Glass Suite Cards

I went to make some cards recently and pulled out my pack of Graceful Glass vellum, which I’d used in class a couple of times, but there were still lots of beautiful pieces left. I had several birthday cards on my list to make including a 60th, so I decided to make a shaker card for her. The birds were coloured with the Stampin’ Blends. Whenever I make a shaker card I always adhere a few sequins a bit higher up so that when it sits on the recipients desk not all of the sequins are at the bottom of the shaker window.

I added gold foil die cut outs with the co-ordinating stained glass dies and stuck those in with the fine tipped glue pen on top of the window sheet. The sentiment was gold embossed from the painted glass stamp set & numbers are from a well retired die set, but were just the right size for the card.

These cards were also made using the Stampin’ Up! Blends and the beautiful Graceful Glass vellum and the Delicate Lace Edgelits. These were some of the cards that my amazing Crafternoon Tea Ladies made at a recent charity afternoon where the cards are being donated to go with quilts being made for the victims of the recent Christchurch massacre.

The next was made using the Stampin’ Blends and the Graceful Glass vellum, never an easy card to make, the base was actually very vanilla not white as the white was too harsh for behind the vellum and then teamed with real red & early expresso.

I also did some other colour variants and sentiments from the Painted Glass set as I was on a roll colouring and doing this style card – am I the only one that does this? Make a batch of similar looking cards, but just with different colours and sentiments.

Team make & take – Beautiful Butterflies

Every 6 weeks or so my amazingly talented Stampin’ Up! team get together for a catch up on what is happening from a business perspective, show and tell and of course to stamp. Last month one of my very talented team, Denise, designed this beautiful card for us all to make….

I love the layering of the butterfly punch and of course the fact over the last two years we’ve converted her from loathing to loving lemon lime twist! The detailed edgelits are really versatile and with the layering of the different designer papers plus the black matt, it really highlights the beauty of these images. Of course no card is complete without a stamped & co-ordinated envelope…of course our next team meeting will be showcasing all the information from the latest OnStage event which two of my team got to attend in Auckland, plus some more terrific make & takes!

Exclusive Paper Pumpkin Kit!

Over the years we in the South Pacific have lamented the fact that it is only the North American market of Stampin’ Up! which can get Paper Pumpkin (a monthly all inclusive kit to create beautiful cards or home decor). However as a global one off on May 15th there will be a Paper Pumpkin kit available to all of us called the Shelli Kit!

It will contain everything you need, except a clear block, to create 12 cards or 4 different designs plus includes co-ordinating envelopes for just $37 plus postage…want to see one of the cards?

If like me you are super excited about this kit and don’t want to miss out on getting your hands on one, you can reserve one via myself now and I am setting my alarm for midnight on the 14th so I’ll be able to click and order as soon as they become available! If you live local then I can get the kit to you with free postage. If you live remote, then you can choose a different option……you can also of course order yourself using the online shopping and the current hostess code M6XPEDN3.

Paper Pumpkin Kit – Hugs from Shelli

*NB: I will 110% do my best to order everyone’s kits as soon as they become available to the South Pacific market, however sometimes things are truly out of my control – so if in the event I cannot purchase the kits as pre-ordered I will refund the money 100% with my heartfelt apologies.

I am loving the new Storage from Stampin’ Up!

I am loving the new modular storage from Stampin’ Up! I have the option now of purchasing what I want, when I want (read can afford it) and change it as my craft room changes.

Over 2/3 of my ink pads are still the old style ink pads and they do fit in the new storage, although they cause the tray above it to raise up just a little bit, but not enough to annoy me or cause me to mortgage my house to buy all the new style and of course moving forward all the new style fit beautifully with all the re-inkers stored on top.

For the first time ever I can tell at a single glance what colours I am missing (how did I manage to oversight of not buying Poppy Parade ink pad for this long?), which markers I’ve failed to put away and similar. I’ve got the stamp sets that come in the kits stored in a half wooden case in the open storage block so I know exactly where it is.

Even if you don’t have the Stampin’ Up! ink pads etc. this modular storage would be perfect for any desk to organise things in. Check out the whole range on my website here

Pop Up So Hoppy Together

I love the happy little frogs in the Sale-a-bration So Hoppy Together stamp set, but they need to move and hop! So I incorporated them into a pop up slider card and this was the result.

If you haven’t made one of these cards before, I’d suggest watching this video made by a fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator Michelle Last as she explains the moving mechanism and card assembly very clearly.

The base card stock is Lemon Lime Twist, the base matt is Granny Apple Green 10.3×14.3cm, the tag is thick whisper white 12x6cm, the whisper white background is 8x11cm and the moving piece is Lemon Lime Twist 10x14cm.

The sentiments are from Postcard Pals and stamped in Granny Apple Green and the grass is from Home To Roost (another Sale-a-bration item) stamped in Lemon Lime Twist. The images are coloured with the watercolour pencils and a Blender Pen.

Don’t forget Sale-a-bration finishes on March 31st, so you can only earn these cute little frogs until then!

Bleached Artistically Asian

I love using bleach for stamping, each stamped image is completely unique and it’s a seriously simple technique, you just have to remember to thoroughly clean your stamps as soon as you finish.

Some card stock colours work better than others, personally I’ve found that colours like Real Red, Soft Suede, Pacific Point, Cherry Cobbler, Blackberry Bliss all work really well as the colours bleach out. For this card I used Real Red with Artistically Asian bamboo stamp on an ink pad made from fresh bleach (it has to be fresh, the older the bottle of bleach the less contrast you will get when you stamp the images) and paper towel.

You have to allow the image to develop for about 5 minutes to get the full bleaching effect. I always rinse off the stamps immediately after using them in bleach and I’ve only ever done this technique with red rubber never photo polymer so I don’t know what the results with that style of stamps would be.

The card was completed by over stamping another image and the kanji from the set in Basic Black and the sentiment to match.
