Awesomely Artistic meets Watercolour Wings for Angel Wings

So it’s been a while between posts, firstly because I got to spend three lovely weeks with my boys interstate on holiday and it was lovely to get away from everything & I confess I did not craft once during that time! Tragically however during that time a close friend lost her beautiful baby girl, Hannah.

Sympathy cards are never easy to make, but making one for a couple who had lost such a huge part of their future hopes and dreams is challenging beyond what is normal for me. It took me a long while to make the card, there have been a lot of tears, anger and frustration and no doubt there still will be for a long time yet to come.

The card featured a butterfly, to help her Sleeping Angel go to a better place. I could extol the virtues of having matching framelits made it easier to make the card, but in truth the Gorgeous Grunge splatter got added to cover some tear marks. The process of making the card did help me though, it created a positive focus for my energy and thoughts, to make something beautiful for Hannah and firmly lock her memory into a link with good things.

We all craft for different reasons, at different times, but at this time it has been to help me work through some of the grief and also hopefully to let the parents know that a lot of people are here for them and their beautiful daughter, Hannah, will never be forgotten.

Minion Punch Art

My very talented friend, Catherine, made this card for Cherub’s birthday, which was very appropriate as we went to see the new Minion movie. It’s all done with punch art & is super cute and I love that it is a different little character to the one I did last year here.

It’s the first of the Minion movies I’ve seen, not sure if they are my cup of tea, but I do enjoy making the punch art cards of the little characters, which Minion character is your favourite?

Boys Will Be Boys Lego Robot

It was Cherubs’ 9th birthday today, yep no idea where that time went! I haven’t been 100% health wise the last couple of weeks and of course I left it until he last minute to make his card – so I ended up surfing the net and CASEing a card that I admired by Heidi. I changed a couple of the colours and added some of the Lego popped up on Dimensionals to add a bit more interest. All the colouring was done with the smaller brush of the two Aquapainters.IMG_8455-2

It’s the first opportunity I’ve had to ink this stamp set and I am loving those Lego bricks, so might have to have a bit more of a play with the set soon.

Project Life Scrapbooking with Emoticons

This week at Crafternoon we used the Project Life framelits and a lot of punches with a bit of ink to make our own Project Life cards, inspired by a UK demonstrator Sarah-Jane and my Cherub’s addiction to taking selflies and using every emoticon on my phone combined with 6 words when texting Daddy………we made a double page layout with one traditional single page and one pocket page (sorry for the dodgy photos – you get the idea). You can see Sarah-Jane’s tutorial here.

IMG_8436-2

I haven’t added my photos to this layout yet (and yes I know I forget the apostrophe in the title, I have fixed that now)!

IMG_8438-2

Some were designs straight from Sarah-Jane and others were taken from the icons on my phone, they are a bit cute aren’t they?

IMG_8439-2

Sorry the large letters were cut with a retired die set, but the smaller letters were done with the Little Letters Framelits.
IMG_8437-2

I made a few extra which I will be adding to tags, they are a lot of fun (and slightly addictive)……..what is your favourite emoticon?
