Comfort & Hope Sunset

I love sponging, it’s no secret that one of the best value items in the Stampin’ Up! catalogue are the brilliant value, for $7 you get 3 sponges, personally I cut them up and attach a tag for easier handling so I get 18 sponges for just $7 at that price I have one sponge wedge for each colour to avoid cross contamination.

I started by stamping the wheat image from Comfort and Hope along the base and then I sectioned off the card in half and started sponging the bottom first with crushed curry and terracotta tile inks. Then I switched the sponging to the top of the card I punched a 1″ circle onto a post it note for the sun and then sponged the same colours to create the sunset. I added the island in black ink and used a black Stampin’ Write marker to fill in the black wheat and base of the card. The card base was Bumble Bee and a panel of Terracotta Tile and Basic Black.

I always start the sponging off the white panel and move it onto the panel in a shoe polishing motion to avoid splotches and keeps the background ‘soft’. I didn’t add a sentiment to this card as I felt it didn’t need it. Told you this was a versatile stamp set!
