Gift Bag Board Tag Box with Tags

I saw this great video on YouTube recently by a UK demonstrator Linda Parker, you can see it here, anyway I was wanting to make a box to hold tags for this weeks Crafternoon class and it looked perfect – except it was the wrong size. So after a couple of attempts and some scrap paper, the below was the result, a box the perfect size to hold tags.

I used the Timeless Type Designer Series Paper and the new banner punch (love this one). The measurements for this box are 7 3/8″ x 10 1/8″. On the short side score at 1 3/8″ and 6″. Rotate the paper 90′ and score at 1 3/8″, 3 3/8″, 5 3/4″ and 7 3/4″. Punch all the score lines as per Linda’s video and assemble. The designer series paper was cut to 11cm x 5.5cm, 11cm x 4.5cm and 11cm x 3cm for the top and front pieces. The banner was 2″ x 4 1/4″ in the kraft and 1 1/2″ x 4″ in the Typeset designer series paper. The bow was made from the kraft paper.

A variety of tags were made using the tag topper punches and various stamp sets.

These are suitable for all different occasions.

Some are simple and others more involved.

The entire set will make a nice gift, once I add twine and ribbon to the tag tops!

Pizza punch art

Once a month for the last +3 years I host Pizza & Papercrafting, a fun social gathering where people can come along between 6pm – midnight and work on whatever craft projects they are working upon. The cover charge is $10 and covers the venue hire, dinner of pizza, supper plus hot drinks. Well this week I had a quirky enquiry – someone wanted to come along to the next session on June 27th as they wanted to learn how to make pizzas………ummmmmm that’s not what we do, but it did inspire me to create this card.

I’ve seen lots of different versions of this on the internet over the years, but this was my spin on it, it was made on transition day, so I used items from both the old and new annual catalogue. I am loving the vibrancy of the Cucumber Crush colour, can’t wait to use this on Christmas items!

Convention swaps Coffee Treat Bags

So each year at the Inspire.Create.Share event AKA Convention we get to participate in swaps if we chose. The idea is to have an excuse to met new people, exchange ideas and generally have fun. I am pretty time anaemic so tend to only do about 20-40 swaps, some super productive people do up to 200! Mine this year got finished on the plane trip…..

This year I made mini treat bags from the brown paper packaging that come with our orders, put in a small chocolate treat and either a tea or coffee bag (I ran out of coffee bags) and then sealed them with a tag.

I’ll share some of the wonderful items I receive back in the coming weeks.

Convention Owl bag tag

Yay me! By now I am having a wonderful time at the 2015 Inspire.Create.Share Stampin’ Up! event on the Gold Coast 4 days of inky FUN! As part of the convention, we get a goodie bag and in the past they have been super useful bags after the event as well. The down side is that all the delegates have the exact same bag and if it’s anything like last year there were almost 700 people in one room with the same bag – so how do we tell them all apart – we label them of course!

IMG_8389-2

The edges of these I have gone over with a black marker pen to cover up the chip board core (up cycled from the backing card stock of the glimmer paper).

Pleasant Poppy ANZAC thank you card

I was fortunate enough to be involved in my Cherub’s ANZAC ceremony this year, being the 100th year it was a pretty important event. Many people were involved in the organisation and I made some thank you cards for a couple of special people.

IMG_8387-2

The stamp set is on the retirement list and the embossing folder I totally didn’t realise had already retired last year!

All of the staff & students at the school received a commemorative coin and one of the very talented staff members baked some super yummy ANZAC biscuits for the occasion.

Update about Basic Black & Basic Gray ink pads

There seems to be some confusion about the Basic Black and Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pads being on the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Retiring List. As well as the Neutrals Collection Classic Stampin’ Pads, Neutrals Collection Ink Refills, Basic Black Ink Refill and Basic Gray Ink Refill i.e. anything to do with the Basic Black and Basic Gray inks.

If you look really, really close at the Retiring List right at the bottom, you will see a tiny † with an explanation at the end of the long list that reads “†Coming soon; new basic black and basic gray archival inks with improved chemical formulas.”

After Stampin’ Up! reformulated the Basic Black ink with then new firm foam ink pads, there were issues of the ink drying on Whisper White and Very Vanilla Cardstock. Even after sitting for awhile, it could smear, the black ink pad also dried out really quickly so I was reinking it every time I used it. I then started using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad when I wanted black ink so resolved the issue by avoiding it!

I can only imagine that the new archival ink formula for both tray and black are the same, so hence why tray is retiring as well.  They will be back with the new formulated archival ink for Basic Black and Basic Gray and a new item number.

I will know more about everything later this week as we will get a lot of new information and updates and the opportunity to ask questions at the annual Inspire.Create.Share event on the Gold Coast this week, so if I get an update I will let you know!

Tea Caddy Holder From My Heart

I first made this tea caddy/ tea bag holder in Crafternoon class a couple of years ago, but we remade it this week as part of a 3D gift class and it’s always popular. The tutorial is from Splitcoaststampers and I have modified the decoration pieces (listed below) to make is simpler.

IMG_8383-2This one is made up with retired designer series paper (DSP), but class ones were made with Back to Black DSP, the stamp is From My Heart and is also retiring (it has sold out in clear mount version, but is still available in wood mount at 25% off), you can see all the retiring items here.

Base card stock (e.g. red)

  • 6” x 12” piece for central part of the tea caddy
  • 4 ¼” x 4 5/8” piece for the lid, scored at ¾” all around
  • 2 ¼” x 2 5/8” piece for the insert at the base to cover the folded tabs (gets added last)

Contrast card stock (e.g. black)

  • two pieces 3” x 8.5cm for base & another this size in chip board
  • two pieces 2 ¾” x 4 ¾”
  • 4 ¾” x 2 3/8”
  • 4” x 2 3/8”
  • 2 7/8” x 2 ½”

Designer series paper

  • 3 ¾” x 2 ¼”
  • two pieces 4 ½” x 2 ½”
  • 4 ½” x 2 1/8”
  • 2 ¼” x 2 5/8”
  • two pieces 2 7/8” x ½”
  • two pieces 2 ½” x ½”

I get my chip board from the backing piece that comes with glimmer or specialty paper, got to love upcycling! I also love our paper trimmer for having the cutting and scoring blades as well as metric and imperial measurements as it makes my life SO much easier, although I confess as I was preparing multiple kits for this I did use the score board rather than the trimmer for a lot of the scoring as it is quicker!
