So Convention was 3 very full days in which I got to meet some amazing demonstrators like Becky Roberts (below) and Jackie Topia – yes I got a swap from both of them!
I also got to participate in a Guinness World Record Challenge to send the most handmade greeting cards from one single place at one time – mine was card number 936 – sadly it hasn’t arrived to it’s destination yet, but I’m sure it will get there eventually!
I also sent another 9 cards (that didn’t count to the tally) to friends, downline and customers at random just for fun to share in the excitement of the event. The record was broken that night and the final tally of cards was 2894 – that’s a lot of sharing the love!
Of course no Convention with thousands of women would be complete without SHOPPING – there was the Strawberry Slush (AKA pink) hoodie and nail varnish in ALL the new in-colours, plus a host of other items.
One of the highlights of any Stampin’ Up! Convention is the sharing of ideas, there were literally thousands of 3D, scrapbooking and greeting cards on display – some of the displays spelt out words like “share”, “create” or “inspire”
Who wouldn’t love to receive this bright and happy planter box of flowers to cheer them up or say I’m thinking of you?
Of course getting up close to the displays was an art in itself……..how cute and functional are these white and silver back packs that we got to carry all our Convention goodies in?
There were also a lot of business sessions, make and takes, the Recognition Room (for achievers), heritage displays and much more……of course every event comes to an end and this one ended with fireworks and lots of silver confetti falling from the ceiling – too much fun. A complete 72 hours of sensory overload, my brain is still processing all of the ideas and will be for some time no doubt (help me fill in the +26 hours of flying time, plus layovers etc on my 4 flights home!).
If you would like to see the full opening session on You Tube, you can do that
I love the versatility and variety of items you can create with My Digital Studio (MDS), a lot of people love it for traditional scrapbooking others use it for hybrid projects and others use it for invitations, recipe books, honestly the ways to use this software is almost endless!
One of the fabulously entertaining presenters at the Salt Lake City Convention was Bonnie Thurber – here she shares a few of her MDS projects.
If you would like to know more about MDS – you can download the free 30 day trial from my website right now. The full version of MDS is just $24.95 and new digital downloads are released weekly, of course you could get the bargain of the year and pay just $35 to register for the MDS Tour and join us for 4 hours of digital fun on Saturday August 24th from 9-1pm which includes the full version of MDS – for details about the event or to register click here, I’d love to see you there!
Well I had the opportunity to ‘add on’ the US! Convention prior to the start of my Grand Vacation trip I earned for free with Stampin’ Up! and honestly for the extra cost I am so happy that I went to their Convention at Salt Lake City, Utah.
It was ten times larger than the one I went to in Brisbane in May………thousands of wonderful demonstrators, amazing displays, brilliant presentations and complete sensory overload! I will try over the next few weeks to share with you some of the things I got to experience – but honestly it’d be pretty much impossible to capture and share everything that happened – so you’ll have to put up with just a few small blog posts instead!
Above is a picture of the entrance to the centre ………..lining the streets of the Convention Centre were these banners in all different Stampin’ Up! colours – yes SU! had definitely taken over Salt Lake City and was celebrating it’s 25th anniversary in style!
In these two pictures you can see some of the crowds – this isn’t even half the demonstrators that attended………..
but wait there’s more…………..
At the first general session we got to see the CEO & co-founder of Stampin’ Up! Shelli create 25 projects on stage – yes she still does stamp!
How cute do these partially embossed Very Vintage buttons look – I can’t wait to get home and try this as I love the effect.
Even the local stores were sharing in the excitement of the event – one store had swap cards left by patrons all through their displays.
There were lots of general sessions, business sessions, make & take and mini classes, swap boards, product playground and generally never a dull moment!
We have a 7 year old and am always in search of creative ways to package treats for birthdays, Easter, Christmas and other occasions and have made several different ones over time. There are several of these ideas in the current catalogue, including this idea on page 84 – how cute are these lollipops?
The Bug Me stamp set is so cute and versatile, you can add buttons for body parts, glitter to vellum wings or google eyes – the possibilities are many!
If you liked the cool marker techniques and want to add to your collection (or start your collection) or if you have gaps in your marker kit since the new colour refresh – you can now get the markers individually for a limited time. In the 2013-2014 annual catalogue, you could buy the Stampin’ Write Marker New Color Kit (item 130034, page 163) to help you update your Many Marvelous Marker pack. So there is no better time to fill in the gaps, if you are ordering from my online store – don’t forget the current hostess code QJNSV4NV.
My son got a wonderful gift from one of my team last month. Packaged in complete Stampin’ Up! style = everything co-ordinated beautifully and it contained sweet treats! Of course he was only allowed to have the present after I had photographed it for this blog post and used it on my catalogue launch display.
The gift bag was adorned with a gift tag is stylish read and blue using the Blue Ribbon stamps and a matching tag for the contents – a HUGE jar of yummy Skittles!
Some stamping, a punch, some ribbon and lots of love really does make a thoughtful present even more awesome and even after the delay he loved the gift, thanks Sue!
There are so many fabulous ideas in the new 2013-2014 catalogue and this one on page 25 is no exception. The flower is made from crepe filter paper and the Fun Flowers die and you can see how easy it can be made in this video.
If you want to order the supplies to make this card, you can do so in my online store here, don’t forget the current hostess code QJNSV4NV.
I hate to tell you – but for this card you HAVE to eat Ferrero Rocher chocolates……..lots of them! Another demonstrator I love to see doing stamping presentations is in Stampin’ Up! family terms my grandma, the super talented Ngaire Anderson. She showed several ideas for the Dress Up Framelit dies.
Now I’ve used this die several times already in classes for various cards including ones like this card.
However I absolutely loved what Ngaire made by up cycling the chocolate wrappers and this die – it’s reminds me of the flamenco dancers in southern Spain.
