Brisbane SU! Convention

What a whirlwind of new ideas, techniques, new faces and excitement last week was! I got to go to my first national Stampin’ Up! Convention along with almost 700 other demonstrators which this year was held in sunny Brisbane. I have so much to show and tell, but for now I will keep it very brief and show you my very decorated name badge….

IMG_2234

The beautiful wooden stamp was a gift from the super talented Donna Griffith from the US head office – her husband helped her make literally hundreds of them! The silver one in the bottom, centre was the theme of this year’s convention “Be the Difference”, the others were for sales, leadership, recruiting and of course my Grand Vacation achievement – the awesome thing about Grand Vacation is that it isn’t limited to a certain number of demonstrators – anyone who makes the requirements can go = 2014 is a trip on a cruise ship around the Western Carribean.

IMG_1473

How amazingly gorgeous was this paper cake to celebrate Stampin’ Up! 25th birthday? So  much nicer in real life, all of the flowers were highlighted with the new Dazzling Details and it was just beautiful. Of course no first convention at Stampin’ Up! is complete without the photo with Shelli – so here you go…….

IMG_1517

Her lovely husband, Sterling, very patiently took all the photos with our cameras – I think he did a great job! I’ll be sharing more photos from Convention over the next few weeks, of course if you want to go to the 2014 national convention it’s in Melbourne & if you join my team before May 30th you get a bonus $60 in your kit and a gift from me!

Pizza & Papercrafting

So once a month-ish I hold a Pizza & Papercrafting event and I thought I’d share with you some images from our most recent event this past weekend. Firstly it isn’t just for paper crafters, we’ve had sewers (yes there are power points for sewing machines, laptops, electronic die cut machines, laminators, heat guns etc), jewellery makers, digital scrapbookers and people who just want to come along for a chat and some creative time. Numbers each month vary from around 12-20 depending upon life events and my ability to book the venue and juggle my family time.

The evening costs $10 and includes a variety of pizzas at ~7.15pm, hot drinks as you want throughout the evening and supper of cake/dip/fruit (depends on the month what is there) at about 8.30pm.

Fortunately Sharon’s baking at 100 times better than my phone photography – these individual cheesecakes were divine! We also had a lemon slice (thanks Christina) and a chocolate slice (thanks Sue). Soft drinks are also available for $1 a can.

306858_10151502924882886_908391523_n

Some ladies work on scrapbook pages (Melissa put us to shame one time by completing 3 double layouts and a single layout in one session!!), others work on cards like the beautiful ones water coloured by Christina above and Sharon covered this journal and others just come for a social chat!

970699_10151594335156195_737202089_nThe next Pizza & Papercrafting is on June 29th and RSVP is essential so I can ensure sufficient tables and food, more details can be found on my events page or by contacting me.

Green Ninja punch art

I had an avid Ninjago fans’ 7th birthday on the weekend and what better to make him than a ninja card? I found a few different ones on Pintrest and went with a clean and simple version – no stamping!!!

IMG_1347-2

The eyebrows are made by double punching the owl punch body lengthwise – the card was completed with a customised badge curtesy of My Digital Studio enabling me to add his name to it! Inside the card had a die cut of his age and also a little ninja owl – cute isn’t it?

Accessories: Owl bulder punch, Tombow glue

Card stock: Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White

Convention Specials

Take the Cake Recruiting Promo

Well I have just finished packing to fly off in the morning to my first Australian Stampin’ Up! Convention – that means ~700 demonstrators from all across Australia and New Zealand in one venue for 3 days! (Well 4 for me actually as I have a day of leadership for managers as well – so excited we also get a reception event to chat with Shelli!) Can you imagine the noise when they give us sneak peeks of new products coming in the next catalogue on July 2nd – you’ll probably be able to hear us clear across Brisbane!

The first is a competition I am running is to win something FREE (not sure what yet as I’ll be buying it this week at Momento Mall in Brisbane at Convention later this week) for the person who guesses how many free stamp sets I receive during my time at convention. I know as part of registration that we get at least one free stamp set, but the question is how many more I get as part of awards, door prizes, bonuses with SU! being generous as it’s our 25th anniversary year (I have my fingers crossed for the later) so basically email or SMS me a number with your name before midnight on Sunday 26th of May and I will add you to the draw (if more than one person guesses the right number I’ll think of something extra as a prize – or darn it I’ll just have to buy lots at Momento Mall just in case!)

The second offer is that if you order online or by emailing/phoning me your order before June 15th using the hostess code RV94WAYH and if the sales total reaches hostess benefit levels I will be able to redeem extra product to share amongst those who ordered (this code closes June 15th 2013).

A third offer is that if you take advantage of the current offer to join my team before May 30th in addition to the bonus $60 I will add in an extra gift RRP +$30.

Have a super creative week – I know my head will be spinning with all the ideas by the time the weekend comes along!

Hostess codes & benefits

RainOrShineStamps

I am now able to accumulate small online orders & orders given to me using a Hostess Code. This is awesome as it allows me to redeem items if the totals reach hostess benefit levels and pass them onto customers (i.e. those who ordered during that time period) as free thank you rewards! The code will change each month – so be sure to check my newsletter, Facebook or here on my blog for the latest code to use!

If you order online you must enter the current hostess code RV94WAYH and your order will ship directly to you straight away which is brilliant for taking advantage of clearance sales or retirement lists where you don’t necessarily want to wait for me to submit my order as you might miss out on limited stock. Of course I can submit the order for you the traditional way…….of course if your order goes over $300 you get to keep the hostess rewards yourself – this is just an extra way we can order smart and I can reward my customers for shopping with me!

Faux Mother of Pearl

Quite a long time ago, we did a technique called faux mother of pearl it’s a super simple technique which really doesn’t require a lot of tools to create it, the photograph really doesn’t do it justice – but the effect is really very shiny on the butterfly die cut.

IMG_2112-2

I also love the shadow effect of double layering the numbers, again really simple yet effective don’t you think? Want to learn some cool techniques – why not join my technique classes each month.

Stamps: Elements of Style

Card stock: Patterns Stack Neutrals DSP, Sahara Sand, Marina Mist, Shimmer White, Not Quite Navy

Ink: Marina Mist, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Black Stazon

Children’s Class #1 Fun

We had a lot of fun in the recent school holidays with two classes to give children a creative outlet, the first class was themed for Mothers Day. We covered an A5 notepad and card that some made for their Mum’s and others made for their friends.

IMG_2021-2

Butterflies and flower were the theme of the day – and what’s not to love about glimmer paper? Sanding the coredinations card stock that had been dry embossed was also popular with the boys – they liked using “tools” like the Big Shot and the sanding block.

IMG_2023-2

I loved the scrunched flower this student made using the 1 3/4″ scallop circle punch and them layering it onto a silver glimmer blossom punch.

IMG_2020-2

This also has to be one of the most novel ways I’ve seen to attach a button to a piece of card stock with a brad, but innovation was not about to slow this student down in their creative process.
